Animal Science Newsletter – Spring 2026
FROM THE DEPARTMENT HEAD

Happy spring quarter from Cal Poly. It is the last time any of us will be able to say that with the conversion to the semester system beginning in the fall. Yes, I am looking forward to the semester system. Putting together a timely newsletter is extremely challenging when so many good things are happening. The exterior construction fence at the new Charles and Claire Jacobson Animal Health Center came down this past week. This puts us another step closer to occupancy. We are excited to move into the new facility over the summer and have a new exceptional opportunity to continue the Learn by Doing heritage.
More news flashes, the Cal Poly Women’s Polo Team finished the national finals as the reserve champions. The Dairy Products Judging Team is the National Champion Collegiate Team for the second year in a row, including many exceptional individual performances. The list goes on and on. We hope you enjoy this edition of the Animal Science Department Newsletter.
