Leslie Sklena, DVM, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal Poly in 2004 and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, in 2009. Her career has been dedicated to advancing companion animal health, with particular emphasis on shelter medicine, high-volume spay/neuter, and emergency and critical care. Dr. Sklena has extensive hands-on surgical experience and a strong interest in expanding practical training for all involved in the veterinary field. She has taught courses on general anesthesia and surgical techniques both in the United States and abroad, fostering skill development in diverse clinical settings. Passionate about widening access to veterinary care, she emphasizes the importance of making high-quality treatment available to all companion animals regardless of circumstance. Her commitment to surgery, education, and animal welfare continues to guide her professional work and contributions to the veterinary community.
