Our Program

The Cal Poly Swine Research and Education Center is a complete farrow-to-finish swine operation located on the Cal Poly campus at the end of Sports Complex Road. The facility provides opportunities for students to get applied management experience in the health care, nutrition, reproduction and marketing of pigs.

Additionally, the swine facility provides a site for students to conduct comprehensive research projects in the areas of nutrition, physiology, reproduction, animal behavior and mechanical engineering.

I love the Swine Center because it is so hands on, and it's really geared towards learning. You don't need much prior animal experience to work with pigs and to learn something new. My experience in Cal Poly Animal Science solidified my desire to go into the swine industry and helped me realize my passion for the field.
