Construction Updates:

Escuela Ranch is the new home of the Bull Test and Sale. The Animal Science Department hosted the 50th annual Bull Test Sale Oct. 1 2006 -- What a way to start at a new and state-of-the-art facility in a great location!

Bulls were brought to the facility in May 2007 in preparation for this year's Bull Test Sale.

The new commodity barn is complete and the remaining feed product inventory has been moved in.

Two new wells supply water for domestic use, cattle water and fire protection.

Student employee fence crews geared up to install both oil field pope fence and electric fence that are now in place. Given the high cost of steel and oil field pipe specifically, more electric fence than originally planned was used.

The new Beef Center:

Supports new technologies for teaching and researching embryo transfer and artificial insemination.
Provides a central location for the production, teaching and researching taking place in Cal Poly's beef program.
Provides a central location for the Bull Test and heifer development program.
Includes 8 lay-up pens for heifer development and health management.
Includes 10 stalls designed for breeding and embryo transfer activities.
Includes 7 three-acre paddocks for performance testing bulls involved in the Bull Test.
Includes a student residence.
