Brooke Humphrey is a nutrition and immunology specialist for the Animal Science Department. Humphrey earned his bachelor’s degree in animal science from Cal Poly in 1998, before going onto UC Davis for his master’s and Ph.D. After earning his Ph.D. in nutrition in 2004, Humphrey worked as an assistant professor at University of Maryland, College Park, in the department of animal and avian sciences. In January 2007, Humphrey returned to Cal Poly as an assistant professor.

At Cal Poly, Humphrey teaches ASCI 320, Physiological Chemistry of Animals, ASCI 350, Applied Nonruminant Nutrition, Vet Science 440, Immunology and Diseases of Animals, and Poultry Management 330, Poultry Meat Production and Processing. His position also includes a 25 percent research appointment, and supervision of the poultry unit, and quail, broiler and laying enterprises.

Professional memberships include the American Society of Nutrition, the Poultry Science Association, the Comparative Nutrition Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was also elected to Sigma Xi, a scientific research society.
