The animal science department offers two swine-related
courses. The first, ASCI 222 - Systems of Swine Production,
is a required course for all animal science students. ASCI
222 introduces students to swine management systems and the
science of swine reproduction, nutrition, health care, and
genetic selection. Students also learn hands-on skills in
swine management, behavior, and veterinary care. The second
course, ASCI 350 - Applied Nonruminant Nutrition, includes
the influence of growth curves, consumption patterns, and
feeding management in commercial swine industries in its
course topics.
